1. Remove the 3 to 4 screws on the blower housing on the back of the dryer. Grab a screwdriver and head to the back of your unit. On the back, usually on the left side, you'll see a large metal casing that runs from top to bottom. Unscrew the handful of screws keeping this metal casing on, then pull it off of your dryer.

Unscrew the lint filter cover and remove the screws holding it to your dryer's chassis, then lift off the filter. The entire front panel then lifts off, revealing the drum and belt. Unhook the old belt from the groove. The belt is spring-loaded, so be careful when removing it.

The squeaking noise is most likely the rear bearing of the drum or the front drum support. I just replaced both for a GE dryer which had been making a grinding noise.
