Considering that the prototype ore cars were made in a number of different designs/sizes, I would not be too concerned about the differences between the various manufacturers' models. Note that I happen to like the Atlas/Roco cars as they are the easiest ones to two-rail. At the time, Atlas offered two-rail axles and scale couplers.

Which grade would be best for modeling an O gauge iron ore load, #77 medium or #84 coarse. My plan is to paint the plastic insert load plates, then spray them with 3M spray adhesive, add the ballast and finish with 30/60 white glue mix. Appreciate any suggestions and other proven methods to improve the load appearance.

A completely new freight car truck and coupler has been designed and is currently undergoing very detailed testing both at the factory and at the RMT offices. Any of these trucks deemed unsatisfactory will be replaced to dealers and customers by RMT. That is why no new RMT ore cars have been announced or delivered.
