It is a McLeod pressure plate (360500) which is a Long type with no centrifugal assist. It's rating is 1800 lbs of clamping pressure. Based on some research, my engine, which has a calculated output torque of 405 ft-lbs at 3700, ought to use a 2000 lb pressure plate... in fact they recommend 20% extra, so it should be a 2400 lb pressure plate.

Bill, the surface finish that grinder leaves allows a clutch disk to engage the flywheel without chatter, the finish that a lathe leaves can make a new clutch disk and pressure plate slip .
