عرض المزيدWell, it appears you have your answer, but to put it simply: YES, the welder is allowed to grind down the surface of the weld in order to bring it into compliance. That may be because of roughness, excessive reinforcement, unacceptable weld profile, etc. Have a Great Day, Brent. By 803056 Date 12-26-2013 21:31.

عرض المزيدWeld symbols are used to indicate the welding processes used in metal joining operations, whether the weld is localized or "all around", whether it is a shop or field weld, and the contour of welds. These basic weld symbols are summarized below and illustrated in figure 3-3. b. Arc and Gas Weld Symbols. See figure 3-3.

عرض المزيدTweet. #2. 11-20-2009, 03:30 PM. I don't usually grind my welds. Either don't lay a bead on inside corners or run a bead and leave it alone. If you really have to get in there try a file, or a grinder with a narrow cut off wheel. Either of those will take a while but a wire brush will take forever. Comment.
عرض المزيد"This allows the operator to grind down a weld, then smooth out the corners, get into tight areas, and even get inside the pipe if he needs to," Wainwright said. The flexible shaft also can work with an ordinary bench grinder, as long as it has a standard 5⁄8-11 arbor.

عرض المزيدGrinding welds does inherently does lead to a reduction in the strength of the weld, as you are removing some amount of material from the weld itself. The degree of weakening depends on the amount of material that is removed. If you don't have to make your welds look flat and pretty then I wouldn't recommend grinding them. You need to make ...

عرض المزيدWhen you grind on a fillet weld that has no "corners" from which to measure the leg length, it is impossible to know if it is correctly sized. I have made three different sketches below. The first one is the corner weld without any grinding. It is difficult to achieve this in any other way than to deposit a full sized weld.
عرض المزيدGroove Welding Symbols. A groove weld will be used when to parts come together in the same plane. These welds will be applied in a butt joint and may have a preparation or not before welding. This is the reason there are several types of groove welding symbols. The symbols for these grooves are nearly identical to the symbols that represent them.
عرض المزيدIt's best used at a 10-15° angle and needs to be moved slowly across the metal, using just the weight of the angle grinder for pressure. عرض المزيدWeld the joint fully, wait for it to cool, cut the braces off (ensuring you don't cut into the job), and grind off the weld with a soft grinding disk, like a flapper wheel, to leave a clean finish. This option can be used for smaller jobs, but it's typically used for large sections where straightening after you weld is difficult.
